After leaving Fontana, we'll be taking a scenic drive via Wayah Bald out to Dry Falls. Once there we'll park and take multiple trips with a subset of cars a short distance down the road to Bridal Veil Falls, where we will have a nice photo opp. Once all cars have had a shot at Bridal veil Falls and all have explored Dry Falls, we'll head into Highlands for lunch and return via Cashiers to Sylva and back to Fontana.
Dry Falls are a 80-foot high falls explode as a free-falling wall of water down to a rocky gorge below. You can actually walk behind them and stay more-or-less dry.
Bridal Veil Falls is a 45-foot (20.1 m) waterfall located in the Nantahala National Forest, northwest of Highlands, North Carolina. With a short curve of roadway located behind the falls, it has the distinction of being the only waterfall in the state that one can drive a vehicle under.
